Bob has spent most of his career in another leading firm of patent attorneys, working successfully to build up a strong chemical patent practice. After a period of comparative relaxation Bob found he missed the cut and thrust and was enticed back by Mohun Aldridge Sykes.
In his 30+ years of patent work Bob has worked with a high level of success for individuals, SMEs, Universities, investors, entrepreneurs, multinationals and in-house IP departments.
He has secured innumerable patents in diverse technologies within the broad ambit of ‘chemistry’ including: polymers, pharmaceuticals, graphene, coatings, personal care, cleaning products, food technology, textile treatment, carbon capture, printing and fuel additives. Bob has also done extensive work in non-chemistry areas, including medical devices, engineering apparatus and building products.
Bob has kept many clients away from damaging patent disputes by conducting effective FTO (Clearance) investigations to avoid competitors’ patents. When collision has been unavoidable he has secured many good outcomes by negotiation or by strategic use of proceedings before the UK and European Patent Offices, including oppositions and appeals.
